Report

For the second of the two visits to neighbouring Crofton the keys took on Div 1 Royal Oak (Crofton AFC). The management names an experimental side with a number of players getting a first start this pre-season including a total different looking back 4. Both teams started well with Oak having the first shots on goal. Unfortunately it was Oak that got the first goal from a unlucky deflection of Simon Dent which rolled just in front of thier striker who hit theball low into the net. Having gone down so early the keys tried to ht back but it was yet another lucky goal for the Oak that came. This time from a rare keeping error from simon white who let the ball slip out of his hand.

Having gone down 2 goals from either errors or just bad luck it spurred us on and Billy managed to grab a goal back with his constant battling up front along side Goodall. Then just before the break the Oak left back beat Gaz and then beat Andy Wood before squaring a low drive onto the oncoming midefielder to make it 3-1 at half time.

Half time some changes were made including bring on Gary K, Matty H and Paul W. Through out the second half the defence stood up to everything Oak through at us keeping the score line 3-1 until a quick keys break down the right gave matty harrison the opportunity to smash one home and get us back in the game. This coming after a succesion of corners nearly resulted in yet another goal only to be cleared of the line.

Despite piling forward and changing to a 3-5-2 we failed to get that illusive 3rd and the game ended 3-2 to Oak. In summary the keys can feel hard done by after a good performance considering the much changed line up. Next is our old friends Cherry Tree who have just signed our want away midfielder Tupper. It promises to be a good game.
